Tips For Your In-home Movie Theatre

Isn't an in-home movie theatre the coolest thing ever? Imagine having the total cinema experience right in the comfort of your home! No staying out late at night, no queuing or spending to buy movie tickets. And, certainly no uninvited guests! If you're considering having an in-home movie theatre installed in your house, you're in the right place. Read on to know to how to go about it.

Choose the perfect spot

The first step to setting up your in-home theatre is to choose the right location. Whether your house is small or large, your indoor theatre must be perfectly situated.

It's ideal that you choose a dedicated space for the purpose. It could be a basement, spare living room, man cave or a guest bedroom. It's also essential to ensure that the room is far from the central areas in the house such as your children's bedroom, kitchen and garage. Regarding space, a twenty-by-twelve-fret space offers the best sound quality, especially for soundproofing purposes.

Restrict ambient light

In regular movie theatres, the dark interior stands out. This feature is absolutely necessary for you to get the best viewing experience, and in-home theatres are no exception. When setting up the space, you should ensure that there's no ambient light filtering in from any point. Ambient light refers to unwanted lighting such as rays coming in from window slits and door frames. This also includes all forms of artificial lighting within the room. Since the movies will be projected onto a large screen, it's crucial that there's no external light-bleed to affect the quality of the images. For the best experience, select a room that already has little to no exposure to outdoor lighting, such as a basement. Here, it's easier to control ambient light than in another space such as an upstairs room where you have to use a lot of curtains to block out the light.

Install a drop-down movie screen

With video projectors, you have the advantage of nicely tucking the screen away after movie sessions. On the other hand, flat screen TVs have no such flexibility.

You can manually raise and lower a drop-down movie screen, making it a more convenient option. Another way is to purchase an electric movie screen that can be lowered and raised with remote controls.

Restrict ambient sounds

With movie theatres, darkness and quite go hand in hand. The easy-on-the-eye images are achieved through blocking out ambient lights, while the cinematic sound-effect is achieved via the blocking out of external sounds.

Sounds from the kitchen, living room, and children running down hallways or playing in the garage can destroy the audio experience. This is why it's important to situate your in-home theatre far away from noisy areas in the house.

With Quiet Interiors, you can get the optimal in-home theatre experience, enjoying movies right in the comfort of your home, with all the privacy you desire. Awesome, right? Contact us today to book a demo.
